I am using a Pi Zero 2W together with HAT Zero which has 4 bricklet connectors. So in essence... can I extend the initial 4 ports of the HAT? Zitieren

If you have a USB OTG adapter, you should also be able to connect a Master Brick via USB for four additional ports. Master Bricks can also be stacked for up to 36 additional ports in total. Zitieren
